Overview

Nike React Phantom Run Flyknit 2 is the updated version of Nike’s premium long-distance running shoe. It is built to provide a comfortable and responsive ride, helping runners to achieve their goals.

In this review, we’ll discuss the shoe’s features, design, and performance, to help you decide if it’s the right choice for your running needs.

Features and Design

It is made of Flyknit material, known for its lightweight and breathable properties.

The shoe also utilizes Nike’s React foam cushioning technology, which promises a smooth and responsive ride while absorbing impact. The outsole is made of durable rubber material, with traction patterns for better grip on the road.

Flyknit Upper

The Flyknit upper is the most distinctive feature of the Nike React Phantom Run Flyknit.

It offers a superior fit and maximum breathability, ensuring your feet stay relaxed and comfortable even during intense workouts. Additionally, the Flyknit material provides a snug and supportive fit for your feet.

Nike React Foam

Nike React foam is the company’s latest innovation in shoe cushioning technology. It is lightweight, responsive, and offers an incredibly comfortable ride.

The foam is also incredibly durable, so you can expect it to last a long time, even after repeated use.

Contoured Cushioning

Thanks to the contoured cushioning system that follows the foot’s shape, the shoe is built to provide a stable and comfortable ride.

This design prevents your feet from rolling inward or outward during movement, preventing unwanted injuries and accidents.

Traction Outsole

The Nike React Phantom Run Flyknit has an outsole that offers excellent traction on various surfaces, making it perfect for running, walking, and other outdoor activities.

The rubber outsole is also durable enough to withstand wear and tear for prolonged use.

Climate Control

Nike React Phantom Run Flyknit is designed as a versatile shoe that can withstand different weather conditions. Its Flyknit upper ensures breathability, while the waterproofing technology ensures that your feet stay dry even on rainy days.

Performance

During testing, the shoes provided a comfortable and stable ride with soft and responsive cushioning. The upper material allowed my feet to breathe during the long run, preventing any discomfort from overheating.

The shoe also felt lightweight and did not impede my running form.

The grip on the shoe’s outsole was also impressive, providing traction on wet and uneven surfaces. It felt test and did not slide or slip during a run.

Who Should Avoid Buying These Shoes?

Not to be Worn Sockless.

There are no shoelaces or a tongue on the Phantom Run Flyknit 2. Even though you might not believe it needs one, wearing socks with the shoe is strongly recommended.

Without socks, you can feel your heel rubbing against the rough back of the shoe even while walking.

Not Much Durable

Compared to other road running shoes on the market, the shoes don’t seem to be highly durable. After only two weeks and roughly 30 miles, the bottom shows signs of wear.

Individuals with Wide Feet

These shoes may not fit you if you have wide feet. The Flyknit material used in the shoes stretches to fit the shape of your feet, but it has a limit. The shoes may become uncomfortable and cause pain if your feet are too wide.

Wide-footed individuals should look for shoes with a wider toe box to ensure a comfortable fit.

Offers Average Support

Nike arranged Flywire cables in a horizontal, parallel pattern over the shoe’s arch. When moving forward, the Flywire effectively secures the foot but does little when moving horizontally.

While this setup is adequate for long runs, if you attempt a sudden turn, your foot will slide over the edge of the shoe.

Your foot glides into the front of the toe box when jogging downhill. However, it is a bad shoe for lateral drills and quick footwork because of the poor midfoot lockdown.

The Bottom Line

It is another shoe in Nike’s Flyknit lineup. It’s a sleeker, more laid-back variation of the Infinity Run in the Nike collection. It has a trendy and appealing design. It is one of Nike’s most impressive running shoes.

Its innovative design and features, such as Flyknit upper, Nike React foam, contoured cushioning, traction outsole, and climate-control features, make it an excellent choice for any active individual.

Performance is somewhat compromised by the design. The performance and snug fit of laces is different from cables. You’ll either love or loathe it, depending on your fit preferences.

It is fine for jogging straight lines, but you’ll probably fall out of the shoe if you make sudden cuts or abrupt movements. Get yourself a pair and experience the difference in your workout sessions.
